The good earth of Texas is blessed with many things, but from a building perspective, our expansive clay soil is a curse. Clay attracts and absorbs moisture in wet conditions; this is what causes the clay to expand. In drier conditions, the clay will contract. This expansion and contraction over the course of a year causes foundations to heave when it’s wet and settle when it’s dry. Over the course of a few years, most foundations will experience unwanted settling, resulting in the need to pier the foundation to correct the problem. In some parts of Texas, the soil can expand/contract 3-5” over the course of a single year.
There is a solution that is proven to eliminate this constant expansion / contraction. It is an inexpensive process called soil stabilization or soil injection. The treatment is economical and more importantly, permanent. Our process changes the clay at the molecular level, eliminating the moisture absorbing properties.
Our Product & Procedure
Accu-Pier can solve your clay-soil related problems by injecting the clay with an ion exchanger. This product is injected into the soil around the perimeter of the foundation, stabilizing the clay itself. This stabilizes the moisture content of the soil and the foundation no longer experiences the expansion & contraction that is the root cause of foundation problems.
Injection has proven to be the most cost effective way to treat clay soils. Chemical injection is superior to other methods such as lime injection or water injection, because it is permanent. Our chemical changes the molecular structure of the clay so that it doesn’t allow the absorption of water.
Our chemical is environmentally friendly, safe for you and your family and even your pets. We inject our product into the soil with a high pressure pump, to a depth of 8 feet. Once the soil is injected, it no longer demonstrates the properties of expansive clay soil and gives your foundation a solid base to rest upon.
Chemical stabilization has been used for decades, the original use was for road beds and building pads when good soil was not available or was cost-prohibitive. It is the product of choice for many geo-technical engineers. Soils treated with our stabilizer consistently yield back results of less than 2% swelling and sometimes even less than 1%.
